BFSU international students gain insights into China's business and cultural pulse

The week-long 2025 Fall Immersion Week organized by the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (IBS.BFSU) successfully concluded. Designed to combine cultural exploration and company visits, the program provided international students from various countries with an in-depth perspective on contemporary China.

Cultural Exploration: Experiencing the Diversity of Traditional and Modern China

Students participating in the Cultural Immersion Week explored Beijing and Shanxi. In Beijing, they visited historical sites such as Cuandixia Village, the Confucius Temple and Imperial College, and Wanshou Temple, gaining a deeper appreciation of China’s cultural heritage. In Shanxi, students explored cultural landmarks including the Yungang Grottoes, Pingyao Ancient City, and Shuanglin Temple, experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture. Through on-site visits and guided explanations, the students developed a more intuitive understanding of China’s long-standing historical and cultural legacy.

Company Visits: Insights into the New Drivers of China's Economic Development

Students engaged in Business Immersion Week visited leading enterprises in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Anji. In Beijing, they toured institutions such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Xiaomi Group, and BAIC Group, learning about Chinese enterprises' achievements in international finance, technological innovation, and automotive manufacturing. In Shenzhen, students visited high-tech companies like BYD, OPPO, and Shokz, experiencing firsthand the innovative strength of “Made in China.” In Anji, they explored local specialized industries such as Dakang Co., Ltd. and Heye Health Technology, gaining insights into the green development model of China's county-level economies.

In-Depth Exchanges: Building Bridges for Cross-Cultural Understanding

At each site, students engaged in meaningful discussions with company executives, technical experts, and HR representatives. Topics ranged from Chinese companies' global strategies and technological innovation to market expansion and career development. The English-speaking environment and international atmosphere at institutions like AIIB and Xiaomi allowed students to more easily grasp the global vision of Chinese enterprises.

“The visit to AIIB gave me a profound sense of China's active role in global governance,” shared Elijah, an international student from the United States. “And the dialogue with Xiaomi executives helped me understand how technological innovation drives corporate globalization.”

Fostering a Platform for Cultivating Global Talent with China Expertise

As a flagship program regularly held each semester, the Immersion Week has become a key brand in IBS.BFSU’s internationalized education initiative. With its dual-track design integrating culture and business, deep collaboration with top enterprises, and an international communication environment, the program offers a unique China experience for international students. Moving forward, the school will continue to strengthen partnerships with industry leaders, expanding the depth and breadth of the Immersion Week. Aimed at building a vital platform for nurturing global talent with understanding and friendship toward China, the program will help more international students recognize a true, multidimensional, and comprehensive China through this window.
