XMU itself offers scholarships to doctoral, master's and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2 or 3 years for master's programmes, 4 or 5 years for undergraduate programmes). Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master's or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships. The awardees' academic performance will be assessed each year and only those achieving the required standard will have their scholarship renewed for the following year.
The Tan Kah Kee Scholarships have been set up by The Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Education Foundation as part of its efforts to promote the legacy of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, "the standard-bearer of overseas Chinese and the glory of the nation", and to foster the Tan Kah Kee spirit in entrepreneurship and dedication to education. The Scholarships are open to outstanding international students of Chinese descent and students in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who are descendants of Jimei alumni to study at Xiamen. XMU is one of the institutions authorized to enroll students on the Tan Kah Kee Scholarships.
In order to attract more international students to study in Fujian Province and to promote the international exchange and cooperation between Fujian Province and the rest of the world, Fujian provincial government set up scholarships for exceptional international students in undergraduate, master's or doctoral programmes in 2012.

The sustainable ocean development has direct impact on the development and prosperity of all coastal countries now and in the future., and it has become an inexorable trend worldwide that through international cooperation and exchange we should deepen our understanding of the ocean and promote sustainable ocean development to enhance regional and global economic prosperity. Under this consideration, the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the Ministry of Education of China jointly initiate the program of Marine Scholarship of China (hereinafter called the Scholarship) for the purpose of providing ?? financial support to outstanding students from the coastal countries or regions around the South China Sea, the Paci??fic and the Indian Oceans and African, American developing countries to study in China for a master's Master's or doctoral Doctoral degree in oceanography or other related specialties, cultivating advanced professionals of the related fields for developing countries, enhancing international marine cooperation and exchange, and promoting the harmonious ocean development in the region and around the world. China Scholarship Council (CSC) is in charge of the admissions and routine management of the Scholarship.
PIF Program is a full scholarship established by MOE to encourage students from Pacific island countries to study and conduct research in China.
AUN Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for candidates from ASEAN member countries.
EU Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for candidates from EU member countries.
Great Wall Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to sponsor students and scholars in developing countries to study and conduct research in China.
Chinese University Program is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports graduate students.
Bilateral Program includes a full or partial scholarship established by MOE in accordance with educational exchange agreements or consensus between Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities or international organizations.
