Many Chinese universities including prestigious institutions like Peking University and Tsinghua University offer non-degree Chinese language programs to international students. The programs are flexible in duration, ranging from short courses like four- to six-week summer sessions at Peking University and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) to semester-long programs at Tsinghua University. These programs are also quite affordable. For example, a four-week Chinese language program at BLCU cost approximately 4,500 yuan ($626.3).
Courses are provided to students with different knowledge background. For instance, the Peking University Chinese Language Summer School offers starter courses, medium-level and high-level Chinese courses. There are also Chinese business courses for the participating students, as well as visits to historical and cultural sites arranged for the students.
