XJTU holds undergraduate commencement ceremony

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its 116th Commencement Ceremony on June 19 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China.

As one of China's premier universities located in Xi'an, the institution celebrated the undergraduate graduation and degree awarding ceremony for its 4,847 graduating students this year. During the ceremony, Lu Jianjun, the secretary of the Party Committee of XJTU, announced the decision to recognize exceptional undergraduate graduates, outstanding graduate cadres, and graduates who chose to work in key grassroots organizations in 2025.

A total of 46 graduates, who voluntarily joined grassroots units and national defense and military units in the western region for employment and were selected as outstanding students, were commended for their dedication.

Lu expressed his hope that these recognized students, along with all graduates, will continue to strive tirelessly towards building a strong nation and contributing to the grassroots-level development and rejuvenation of the country.

Zhang Liqun, the president of XJTU, emphasized that in the face of the challenges and opportunities of the current era, the university's youth should aspire to become pioneers and catalysts for change in areas such as technological innovation, rural revitalization, sustainable development, social services, national defense, global prosperity, and peacekeeping efforts.

Academician Jiang Zhuangde of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Huang Zuohua from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Professor Zhang Baojun from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Professor Sergio Amedeo Pignari from the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School, Associate Professor Yong Lan from the School of Public Policy and Administration, and Counselor Shen Feiyue from Lizhi College have extended their blessings through video messages, wishing graduates ride the winds and break the waves as they set sail for new chapters.

Professor Mei Xuesong, doctoral supervisor at the School of Mechanical Engineering and recipient of the "National Model Teacher" award, delivered remarks as faculty representative.

Professor Dong Xinzhou, an XJTU alumnus from the Class of 1979 and a doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University's Department of Electrical Engineering, sent his congratulations to the graduates.

Liu Fengxian, an XJTU alumnus from the Class of 1997 and general manager of Zhejiang Land-union Supply Chain Group Co, encouraged graduates to embrace confidence, sincerity, self-reliance, and gratitude.

Student representatives presented floral bouquets to faculty and administrative staff members in recognition of their steadfast dedication and contributions to fostering a warm, harmonious campus environment.
