Renmin University of China announced on Monday the establishment of the nation's first School of Global Leadership, aiming to cultivate exceptional individuals with a global perspective and strategic thinking.

The school seeks to develop future global leaders and youth champions who are dedicated to promoting world peace and development, providing strong support for building a community with a shared future for mankind, the university said.

Zhang Donggang, Party Secretary of Renmin University, emphasized that the school will focus on international students while also integrating Chinese students into its programs. It plans to strengthen collaboration with foreign political parties, governments, universities, think tanks and social organizations, enabling collective action to address global challenges and advance global governance towards a fairer framework.

Danilo Turk, former president of Slovenia, said in a video congratulating the launch that China is emerging as a global leader, making this an opportune moment for the university to establish the School of Global Leadership. He underscored the importance of cultivating talent with global leadership capabilities to enhance communication between China and the world.

The school will promote innovative interdisciplinary studies and contribute to the establishment of world-class disciplines at the university, the university said.
