UIBE alumnus' insights on studying in China

Julien Han, an international alumnus of the University of International Business and Ecnomics (UIBE), now works at the international business deparment of Beijing Health-Biotech Group, a leading company and pioneer in the stem cell industry.

As a Sino-French mixed-race individual who has studied and worked in both China and France, he aims to build bridges between the two countries, and promote the development of stem cell technology in France and other countries by taking advantage of China's cutting-edge technology.

He found UIBE to be vibrant and international. What suggestions does he give to students who want to study in China? Find the answers in our interview with him below.

Q: Why did you choose to study in China?

A: I chose to study in China because its education quality has been constantly improving over the years. Moreover, I can speak some Chinese and I wanted to utilize my language skills.

Q: What's the most unforgettable experience during your studies in China?

A: The International Students' New Year's Eve Gala was very memorable. People respected each other and enjoyed the harmonious atmosphere at the gala.

Q: What were the skills needed most during your studies in China?

A: I think the most important thing while studying abroad is to integrate into the environment, to adapt to the teaching method and social norms, and to respect the country's culture and politics.

Q: What can promote interaction and cooperation among the international alumni?

A: Cooperation among alumni is very important for one to acquire career opportunities, new knowledge and social support. The university could establish an online platform to facilitate communication and sharing among alumni. It could also organize activities such as industry seminars, vocational skill workshops and parties. It is also important to hold academic seminars for alumni to share literature, research results and teaching resources to promote academic cooperation, and to especially encourage cross-diciplinary exchange among alumni.

Q: What advice do you have for students considering studying in China?

A: You can encounter ideas very different from those of Western countries here. You can obtain a new worldview and definition of life, which can provide you with more life possibilities.
