The summer camp for German students hosted by the Sino-German School for Postgraduate Studies (CDHK) of Tongji University began on Aug 28 and will run until Sept 15, with 97 German students from 38 member universities of the German University Consortium for International Cooperations (DHIK) participating.

Event organizers from CDHK expressed their delight at the overwhelming response from German students who are interested in China, stating that they had originally planned to recruit only 50 students but then expanded this number due to popular demand.

Lara Heller, a management major at the University of Applied Sciences Westphalia, expressed her desire to learn more about China, improve exchanges with Chinese students, and learn the Chinese language.

Johannes Abraham, a mechanical engineering major at Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences, said he hopes to improve his Chinese language skills and understand the Chinese way of thinking.

During the three-week camp, the German students will attend various lectures on topics such as digitalization and artificial intelligence, the competitiveness of German and Chinese companies, and cross-cultural management and negotiation.

They will also have the opportunity to visit renowned enterprises including ZF, Liebherr, Nio, Trumpf, Ruhlamat, and SAIC Volkswagen.

Additionally, the students will explore the Tongji campus, experience Shanghai's streets and urban scenery, and visit picturesque cities like Suzhou and Zhengzhou.
