A group of eight South African graduates who studied at Suzhou Vocational University from 2019 to 2021 recently penned a letter to the Party secretary of Suzhou, Jiangsu province to express their gratitude for the education and opportunities provided to them.

They also extended thanks for the fulfilling experience during their years of studying in the city.

"Studying in China has been the best decision we've made, and our time in Suzhou has been one of the most fulfilling and joyful periods of our lives. We have acquired skills, learned about Suzhou's traditional culture, and witnessed the rapid modernization and development of the city," the students said in their letter.

The group of South African students was among the 33 selected by the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authorities of South Africa in 2019 to pursue studies in electrical automation and mechatronics at SVU.

During their studies, the students also undertook internships at companies like Hengtong Group and Koyo Elevator Co Ltd. Eighteen of them have been recruited by the two enterprises, with some becoming essential personnel.

Over the past several years, Suzhou Vocational University has educated over 2,100 international students through cooperation program and hosted more than 300 full-time international students for programs lasting a year or more.

Cao Yumin, Party secretary of the university, said the school will stay committed to international education, continue to enhance educational quality, and contribute talent to regional economic development and the global expansion of local enterprises.
