The 2023 Shanghai International Studies University (SISU)-Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Summer Program, which ended on Aug 4, provided overseas students with a deep understanding of Chinese culture.

Spanning eight weeks, the program featured Chinese language learning and cultural immersion activities. Students had the opportunity to explore the campus, visit museums and famous landmarks, experience traditional festivals, and participate in intangible cultural heritage activities.

Participants said they gained an invaluable experience of Chinese customs and traditions, and were able to better appreciate the country's rich cultural heritage because of the program.

The students also went on tours in Suzhou, Nanjing and Hangzhou cities to explore different aspects of Chinese culture.
