The opening ceremony of "Understanding China & Sensing Wuxi" was held in a logistics park of the West Wuxi Railway Station on March 14.

The event was attended by overseas students from Jiangnan University and Wuxi University.

Organized by the Wuxi Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, the Wuxi government information office and Jiangnan University, the event featured a series of city trips for international students in Wuxi.

Li Tao, chairman of the Wuxi Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

He said that international students will get to visit local enterprises, cultural venues, and rural areas in the city and learn more about Wuxi and China.

During the ceremony, Denis, a Russian student who majors in computer science and technology at Wuxi University, said that he is excited to learn that the Wuxi Express of China-Europe freight trains will transport goods to his home country of Russia.

Located in the Huishan High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Luoshe town), the logistics park of the West Wuxi Railway Station became a logistics hub due to its integrated highways, railways, and waterways.

In addition, the first Wuxi Express China-Europe freight train departed from the park last March, marking the city's involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative.

As of the end of February, Wuxi Express had transported 1,924 TEUs of goods, according to official statistics.

After the ceremony, international students visited local enterprises that have set up overseas subsidiaries. One such company is Jiangsu Phoenix Art Materials Technology Co Ltd, a leading professional art material supplier.

During the visit to the company, Cao Ngoc Huyen, a Vietnamese student from the School of Humanities, Jiangnan University, said she is hoping to work in such companies after graduation and strengthen exchanges between China and Vietnam.
