The Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange held an online meeting with the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School, which is located in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, on March 10.

Established in 2004, the school is the only public full-time school in the Central and Eastern Europe that offers education in Chinese and the native language. Erdelyi Zsuzsanna, the principal, gave a briefing about the school and said during the meeting that the teachers, students and their parents love Chinese language and culture.

Yang Shubing, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, extended an invitation to the school to visit Jiangsu and share its education experiences. He also welcomed students at the school to study in the province.

Authorities said Jiangsu will enhance communication and exchanges between its primary and middle schools and the Hungarian school to promote Chinese education. Three schools in the province, including the Nantong Middle School, have established friendships with the bilingual school.

Jiangsu has been opening up its education sector in recent years. Over the past five years, 190,000 international students from 182 countries have studied in the province. Sixteen Hungarian students were studying in Jiangsu in 2022.

Jiangsu has also been holding an annual international meeting for the heads of primary and middle schools since 2005. This meeting has helped schools in the province establish friendships with more than 2,000 overseas schools.
