Sixteen international students at the Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College, which is located in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, recently participated in a volunteer services activity in the city's Hailing district.

The students are from countries including Indonesia, Bangladesh, Zambia, and Mozambique.

A social practice base for international students that was built by the vocational college, local government, and the Suchen Town Experimental Primary School was unveiled during the activity. The base will gather international students to conduct classes and offer physical training at the primary school on a regular basis.

Dai Jianhua, director of the publicity department of the vocational college, said the base is aimed at helping international students better understand China and grooming Chinese students with intercultural competence. He also expressed hope that the three parties can strengthen cooperation to make the base a model for volunteer services.

"Volunteering is about doing meaningful things that help people in need while making ourselves happy at the same time," said a student from Mozambique. "I hope I can help students at the primary school by bringing them knowledge and fun."
