Expats at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang, East China's Jiangsu province expressed their affection for the city and China during a conference held on Feb 23.

The conference was aimed at showcasing Jiangsu's progress on modernization and promoting key points of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China among foreigners. More than 30 international students, foreign experts and envoys of people's friendship from countries including Canada, Syria, Egypt, India, and Singapore attended the meeting.

Juliet Wanza Ndavi, a Kenyan postgraduate from the Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University, said Zhenjiang is a good place and life is very convenient here. "I can feel China is becoming more open and that Chinese people are friendly," she said.

Ndavi came to China to study at Tianjin University seven years ago when she was 20 years old. "After returning home, I hope to make a contribution to my country with what I've learned in China," she said.

Wei Jing, a Singaporean professor at the university's School of the Environment and Safety Engineering, said what impresses her most about China is the country's rapid development. "China is also focusing on protecting the environment while pursuing economic growth, which is very commendable," said the professor.
