East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai held the 2022 ECNU "Chinese Eloquence Start" Contest on Dec 2, which provided a platform for international students to showcase their Chinese skills.

Ten international students from South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Bangladesh participated in the contest.

Topical speeches and impromptu presentations made up the two rounds of the contest. The competitors performed admirably during the speech portion of the competition, winning cheers for their passionate and heartfelt speeches. They answered questions calmly during the impromptu presentation session, and the online audience applauded and marveled at their extensive knowledge and rapid thinking.

The program, which was organized by ECNU's International Education Center, also had the goal of assisting international students in developing their oral Chinese expression abilities and enabling them to communicate in Chinese more freely and confidently.
