Zhoushan, the first prefecture-level island city in China, recently welcomed a batch of international visitors from Sept 7 to 9.

In the three-day trip, the visitors experienced the island’s marine culture, maritime economic development, and rural construction.

The use of specialized equipment and measures, such as unpowered recreational facilities, energy-saving aerial power stations, and sewage recycling, have helped Xinjian village gradually achieve its goal of "net zero carbon".

Scenic spots, cultural landmarks, traditional seafood, and the livelihoods of the people in Zhoushan capture the city’s "breezy vibe".

"I was very surprised by the flavor, especially by osmanthus. I didn’t particularly like Chinese wine before, but after drinking Zhanmao rice wine, I think even my wife would like it! I want to buy a few bottles to take home so I can drink it whenever I feel like it," said Kireev Viacheslav after he tasted traditional Zhanmao rice wine.

Zhoushan's marine intangible cultural heritage impressed the tourists, who got to see handmade boat models, salt paintings, marine paper cuttings and fish bone sculpture paintings, all of which are steeped in years of history.
