Ten international students of the Northwestern Polytechnical University who come from the Solomon Islands recently had a sightseeing encounter with China's city of Xi'an, a modern and historical place where they will spend four years living and studying.

Through joining in university-led social practice activities, the students proceeded from the school's newly built Chang'an campus to get fresh knowledge of their future living environment, before marching to the representative areas of Xi'an's economic development—the High-tech Zone and Chanba New Zone— to experience modern urban life.

For a more comprehensive understanding, they traveled from the bustling city to the beautiful Yuanjia village in the countryside, which merges the characteristics of both ancient and modern villages.

Xi'an is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation and oriental civilization. It has a history of more than 3,100 years as a city and more than 1,100 years of history as a national capital, serving as the capital for 13 dynasties. It always attracts wide attention from the outside world.

The Northwestern Polytechnical University is a national key public research university in Xi'an.
