Soochow University in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province has been actively seeking international cooperation to advance scientific research and groom talents.

The university has established partnerships with over 200 institutes in more than 30 countries and regions, with 50 of them ranking among the world's top 200. Universities in countries along the Belt and Road, including Ca' Foscari University of Venice in Italy and the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are also important partners of Soochow University.

Many joint efforts have been made to educate international talents. For example, the university will work with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to build an international academy of innovative drugs. The first medical school owned by Chinese and foreign parties in China, the academy will admit undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students.

Soochow University has been also pushing ahead with scientific research through international cooperation. In 2021, it carried out 21 collaborative projects with overseas institutes, and papers produced by Chinese and foreign authors accounted for about 40 percent of those published by the university in the Science Citation Index Expanded.

The university has taken a series of measures to attract talents from across the world as well. It holds a forum for international young scholars twice a year to promote itself and preferential policies offered by the university as well as the Suzhou and Jiangsu governments. Soochow University currently has 127 full-time foreign teachers.
