On July 9, as part of the Experiencing China event initiated by the Ministry of Education, a forum gathering intelligent strength from postgraduate international students was held at Wuhan University to discuss food security issues.

International students from seven universities in Wuhan gathered together to deeply understand China's development and gains in food security, seed security and ecological governance, and to exchange opinions.

Tang Qizhu, vice-president of Wuhan University, emphasized the university's actions on food sciences, mentioned their participation in building a hybrid rice laboratory and other important achievements to help support feeding people in countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.

International students also had the opportunity for an on-site visit to the enterprise and hybrid rice laboratory responsible for developing modern agricultural technology.

Alleta Abebe Kebede, an Ethiopian doctoral student, said: "I am a child of a peasant family, and I know the hardships and difficulties of food production and the far-reaching significance of food security to a country. I am grateful for this forum on food security, and I hope that the hybrid rice developed by Wuhan University will benefit more people in the world."
