The Opening Ceremony of the 2022 "HUST-OXFORD" Summer Internship was successfully held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on Jun 29.
Zhao Xiaofeng, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education, Liu Yang, Director of Academic Affairs Office, China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy and professors from School of Electronic Information and Communications, School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation and School of Energy and Power Engineering attended the opening ceremony.
The ceremony was presided over by Yan Wei, Director of the International Admission and Cooperation Office, School of International Education.
On behalf of the university, Zhao extended a warm welcome to Oxford students and expressed her heartfelt thanks to the professors and teachers who participated in the internship. Then, she reviewed the development history of the project.
She congratulated all 10 enrolled students on becoming members of the HUST community on the occasion of HUST's 70th anniversary, and wished this project a complete success.
Liu delivered a speech on behalf of the tutoring team. She mentioned that the online internship is not only a new initiative, but also a challenge. The tutors and their teams will keep exploring and optimizing to improve every intern's learning experience.
Yan gave a detailed introduction to the comprehensive strength, international ranking, academic advantages, social services, campus environment, and "Discover at HUST" online programs of HUST.
The summer internship will last for six weeks. HUST has arranged professional internships in the fields of communication engineering and renewable energy utilization as well as Chinese culture lectures for Oxford students, to let them fully experience the academic atmosphere of HUST and the unique charm of Chinese culture.
Since 2013, HUST and the University of Oxford have jointly launched the "HUST-OXFORD" Summer Internship. Nearly 60 Oxford students have participated in the program. As the first university to accept Oxford students for scientific research internships in China, HUST has won two gold medals for summer camps issued by the University of Oxford for its outstanding teaching and research achievements.
Through this program, HUST gets better chances to attract high-quality students from world-famous universities and select outstanding international students. It also stands as an important bridge to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between HUST and the University of Oxford. In the future, HUST will continue to promote in-depth cooperation with world-class universities to further enhance its international influence.
