The 2022 Shanghai Summer School Middle Eastern Countries Program hosted by Shanghai International Studies University is now open for application.
Foreigners from Middle Eastern countries who have graduated from high school and are between the ages of 16 to 40 years old are eligible to apply for the program.
The university plans to recruit 30 outstanding students from the applicant pool for the program, aiming to help them to get an objective and comprehensive understanding of Shanghai and understand the status of economic and social development in contemporary China.
The program will be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will last for four weeks from July 11 to Aug 5. The application deadline is June 20. Students can apply through the university's online application system (http://apply.shisu.edu.cn).
The program will include Chinese language courses, cultural courses about traditional Chinese opera, calligraphy and paper-cutting, lectures about China's economic development and opening-up as well as various activities including communication exchanges with Chinese students and online tours of Shanghai.
Shanghai Summer School is an annual scholarship program launched by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The scholarship will cover the fee of tuition and online activities.
