Expatriates in Shanghai can now make appointments to receive domestically developed COVID-19 booster shots, the municipal government announced on Tuesday.

The booster shots will be made available only to foreigners aged 18 and older. Appointments can be made through the Health Cloud app beginning 8 pm Tuesday. Adult expats can also make COVID-19 vaccination appointments for their children at the same time.

The cost of the vaccination is 100 yuan ($15.8) per dose. Expatriates who have China's social security medical insurance can receive the shots for free. Uninsured individuals have to be vaccinated at their own expense.

Expatriates can receive the booster shots at 34 vaccination sites throughout the city.

Jiahui Health, the designated vaccination site in Xuhui district, said it has administered more than 12,000 COVID-19 vaccination shots since last April. The hospital provides services in Chinese as well as six foreign languages – English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, and Spanish.
