Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) launched the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Business Culture Online Program on Jan 3.

More than 100 students from countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Thailand took part in the short-term online program to learn about Chinese language and Chinese business culture.

The "Chinese Bridge" Online Program, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, provides a platform for exchange between Chinese universities and foreign students amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the opening ceremony, Sun Bing, dean of the International Cultural Exchange School of SUFE, extended a warm welcome to the foreign participants. Sun introduced SUFE's international education offerings and expressed hope that students will have the chance to fully experience Chinese culture through the program.

Two teachers from overseas universities, the associate dean of the Confucius Institute at Kyiv National Linguistic University in Ukraine and the head of the International Exchange Program of the Department of Chinese of Valeran University in Thailand, also encouraged students to make good use of the opportunity to improve their Chinese proficiency.

A Ukrainian student and a Japanese student shared their stories with China at the opening ceremony and said they were looking forward to gaining a deeper understanding of China through the program.

This is the second year SUFE that has held the program, which received acclaim from overseas partner universities when it was first held last year.
