A news conference that announced jobs for university graduates and postdoctoral talent was held in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 22.
More than 3,000 employers in Jiangsu, comprising 98 universities, 48 research institutes, 77 medical institutions, 318 state-owned enterprises, and nearly 2,500 private enterprises, joint ventures, and foreign companies posted more than 100,000 jobs at the meeting, which was the most ever and represented a year-on-year increase of 54.3 percent.
Nearly 10,000 college students and teachers attended the event via video link, while over 400,000 people watched the livestream. A number of overseas student groups also took part in the meeting.
With the highest number of participants and positions, this is the largest job fair that Jiangsu has ever held, said Zhu Congming, deputy director of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Jiangsu. It is expected to attract more high-level talent, help graduates find good jobs and also help companies recruit eligible employees, added Zhu.
According to the news conference, the average annual salary for these jobs is more than 100,000 yuan ($15,701) before tax. For talent with doctoral degrees, Nanjing University pays up to 420,000 yuan a year, while Purple Mountain Laboratories pays up to 400,000 yuan a year.
The event also developed a WeChat mini-program to help job hunters more easily find the position that suits them best.
Hong Hao, deputy director of the Organization Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, gave a detailed presentation on the province's business environment and policies that aim to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation at the news conference.
