The "Paradise of Chinese Culture" event was held at Nanjing Xiaozhuang University on Oct 23 in which 132 overseas Chinese-language schools from 25 countries and 158 schools in Jiangsu province reached an intention of agreement to partner and cooperate with each other.

The opening ceremony of the event was livestreamed, attracting more than 600 overseas Chinese youth from 11 Chinese-language schools in France and Hungary.

The event aims to boost the promotion and inheritance of China's outstanding traditional culture overseas, which is popular among overseas Chinese people, said Wang Hua, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government.

Due to COVID-19 epidemic control and prevention measures, the province held the event online for the first time, which was a successful expansion of Chinese education work, Wang added.

Nanjing Xiaozhuang University arranged 14 online courses for the event, such as Chinese etiquette, Mandarin, Chinese martial arts, calligraphy, traditional crafts, Chinese cuisine, and traveling in Nanjing.

Through a series of courses, overseas Chinese youth can feel the kinship between their ancestral country and themselves, further enhancing their sense of national identity and pride, Wang said.

The event set up nine sub-venues overseas in France, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Japan, and Malaysia, as well as sub-venues in 13 cities and districts across the province.
