The China International Youth Exchange Center launched a corporate internship program in the summer of 2021. The first group of 50 international students started their internships in July 2021 in different regions of China.

Since the launch of the program, international students, enterprises, and universities have responded positively. Dozens of enterprises of different industries have provided positions for international students to choose from. The enterprises are in a wide range of fields, such as high-tech, energy-saving, emission-reducing, and cultural industries.

The internship program enables international students in China to gain further understanding of the country’s economic and social development, and provides them with opportunities to put their theoretical knowledge into practical use, so as to improve their professional competence. The students can make use of their cross-cultural strengths in promoting people-to-people exchanges and play a role in promoting youth exchanges.

Bok Li is a Malaysian student at Tsinghua University, majoring in Fashion and Apparel Design. Fond of fashion design, and a follower of emerging traditional Chinese style trend (known as guochao), and independent domestic designer brands, she decided to study in China. As an intern at Century Theatre in Beijing, she can integrate different aspects of Chinese and Western culture and combine them with her studies.

As for the participating enterprises, providing work positions for international students can help to accelerate their pace of internationalization, broaden the international vision of their employees, and build a bridge for future exchanges.

“It is an example of win-win and mutual development,” said Fu Yuqiang, CEO of Jiangyin UR Combustion Inc in Jiangyin, East China’s Jiangsu province. “The program builds relationships between students and enterprises, which can enhance our vitality and contribute to the optimization of human resources.”

The China International Youth Exchange Center said it will continue to carry out the corporate internship program in the future, and hopes more students and enterprises will participate in it.
