Apart from this, the well-developed transportation system is also a highlight. Taking a bus wandering around the city during spring or autumn was definitely a wonderful experience, looking at the mesmerizing city view and enjoying the cool breeze.
This country has never ceased to amaze me and one fun fact about China is that everything changes in a lightning way, where the building I see today might disappear two weeks later.
Besides, travelling from one city to another in China has also allowed me to get deeper insights of different people over different provinces. The real-life experiences have reformed my understanding of China and have broadened my horizon, which I otherwise could just visualize through videos or images.
Taking the high-speed rail in China to destinations was another additional point that brings joyous and adds embellishment to the trip, including its speed, convenience, comfortable environment and most importantly, the stability. We even tried to put different things on the small table when we were in the train and it turned out to be amazing!
There were only little waves in the water bottle. To us students, it is definitely the best choice and most economical way to travel around by. We often do not have to worry too much even when we are in other cities outside Beijing as long as we have our mobile phone in hand.
Food delivery is available almost everywhere and the well-structured network has further allowed us to get access to a huge variety of applications no matter where we are. I personally have never tried food delivery back in my country but ordering “takeout” in BFSU was an awesome experience especially when I was running out of time. We can just order through applications such as Meituan Dianping and Ele.me, and get food delivered at our doorstep. It is definitely a favorable choice for all students.
Speaking of this reminds me about Taobao, an online shopping platform that is widely used in China. We often say that Taobao can fulfill whatever needs and wants we have and that we can just get everything in our mind from Taobao.
An interesting thing about Taobao is absolutely the “the Double Eleven Shopping Festival”.
It is when we can see students lining up in front of the school to get parcels even when it is freezing winter season. There was once when my friends were all holding their mobile phones, waiting until 12 p.m. of November 11 to get certain discounted items before they were all gone.
The three years in BFSU has not only broadened my horizon, made me learn more about China but also made me feel special gratitude to my university.
During my studying time in BFSU, I won several college scholarships. For example, I won the IBS Scholarship, the Outstanding Student Leadership Award, and the IBS Special Dean’s Prize. “Never give up” is what I have always been telling myself. I have been studying in BFSU for already three years, and all the experiences have taught me how to be stronger.
I was awarded the scholarship, and the credits are to be given to BFSU. Without all these encounters, I would not have been able to achieve and reach this stage. My sincere gratitude goes to everyone around me, including my parents, all the faculties and my friends. Thanks all teachers and all classmates for being by my side.
Their accompaniment is my biggest motivation that has been encouraging me along the journey. The award from my university has given me strength to continue making an effort, a sense of recognition that has marked a milestone and a sense of accomplishment. I am grateful for the platform provided by BFSU that has added colors to my ordinary life. It is indeed an honor and I am appreciative to everything that happens in my life.
All these small things and the details in each day of my life in China have eventually built up all the profound experiences that have transformed me into a new leaf, in terms of personality, perspective, knowledge and a lot more. It is not only the fast pace of development but also the people, local culture and history. The combination of unique and contemporary infrastructure has revealed me different aspects of beauty. I am often overwhelmed by the magnificent buildings that have well-interpreted the long history of the nation.
It is not about book-knowledge anymore. In fact, it is the encounters that matter. Knowing the history has inspired me to learn from the past and has reminded me that one shall not repeat the tragedies that had happened previously. I came to realize that most people, including myself, tend to focus on the present and the future. However, indeed, it is the past that has built the person I am today.
Lacking of the self-reflection of one’s previous self might just lead to the same old result as before, repeating everything, even the wrongdoings. All in all, the precious experiences are the teachers that have taught me well and are something that I will keep with me forever.
