To celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Iran, the symposium was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Chinese Embassy in Iran, and University of Tehran.

Participants included Tian Xuejun, vice-minister of the Ministry of Education, Fu Lihua, the charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Iran, and Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi, president of the University of Tehran, as well as heads, experts, and scholars from more than 20 universities in China and Iran.

Li Chenyang, executive vice president of YNU, delivered a speech at the symposium. He reviewed the work of the Confucius Institute jointly established by YNU and University of Tehran in the past ten years through Chinese teaching, cultural exchanges, and services to local people.

He said that while focusing on Chinese teaching, the Confucius Institute at the University of Tehran promotes academic exchange and cooperation between YNU and the University of Tehran in personnel training, scientific research, and mutual learning of civilizations.

YNU will further deepen cooperation with the University of Tehran, promote the construction of the China Research Center, and conduct research on history, culture, politics, economy, and traditional medicine between China and Iran, Li added.

In addition, on behalf of YNU, Li proposed the establishment of a China-Iran academic research community to strengthen cooperation in the fields of sinology and art.

At the symposium, YNU and the University of Tehran signed a 2+2 joint training cooperation agreement for Chinese majors, while the Beijing Language and Culture University, University of Tehran, and University of Isfahan signed an academic cooperation memorandum.
